First Blog Entry (Kitty Poop Woes) October 25, 2007

The title should automatically imply this, but I’ll state it anyway: Don’t read while eating.

Today we took Kenshin to the vet. We’ve had him about a week and a half, and he’s about 7 weeks old. He’s had watery bowels that occasionally contained blood or clear mucus.
Even after I read online how that’s bad, and must be checked, I kept putting it off, materialistically worried about the bill.

I was praying last night, and a quiet, peaceful thought said,“take him to the vet”. My thoughts are never quiet and peaceful, so I knew I had my answer.

Anyway, turns out he had ringworm (fungal infection, like athlete’s foot), roundworm (intestinal worm), coccidia (microscopic intestinal parasite), and a cold. Poor baby, he was so good. The vet had to take his temperature rectally in his sore behind. He didn’t like that, but he was still so good, calming down enough after in the waiting room to purr and climb up on Chris.

Anyway, we loaded up on meds for both, since it’s likely they could pass this back and forth, got his first round of vaccinations, and brought him home, where he plays and goes adventuring like he has since we brought him home. The price tag wasn’t too steep, either, and thanks to a recent generous gift from Mom and Dad upon the sale of their house, we had the money.

God will provide.

Tomorrow is the fun part. We take San in for her first vaccinations. San is loving, but skittish to a large degree and she does not adapt well and scratches when picked up. She did a number on my arms today when we held her down to feed her her meds. She is really, really not going to like the vet.
